Samples required

EDTA blood (purple cap/ black cap ring, 4 mL tube). 4 mL minimum.

Samples should be analysed within 24 hours and stored locally at room temperature. Not tested at weekends or Bank Holidays.

Prior discussion with consultant haematologist required.

Not applicable - see report.

Further investigations may be referred.

Turnaround time

TAT - one week. Results indicating more clinical urgency, e.g. ?Mantle cell leukaemia, ?Hairy cell leukaemia, ?acute leukaemia will be discussed with a Haematology doctor at the earliest opportunity.
