Samples required

Trisodium citrate blood (blue cap, 3.5 mL tube) taken with minimal stasis, filled to the line. Smaller tubes are available for paediatric samples.

Immediate transport to the lab is essential. GP surgeries should endeavour to ensure samples are received within this time.

This test can only be added to a request within 2 hours of sample collection.

It is essential to state whether a peak or trough sample. Please provide information on time of last dose.

Rivaroxaban 20mg OD  

In stroke prevention:

Peak levels 184 - 343 ng/mL

Trough levels 12 - 137 ng/mL

In VTE prevention:

Peak levels 189 - 419 ng/mL

Trough levels 6 - 87 ng/mL

Rivaroxaban 10mg OD

Peak levels 91 - 196 ng/mL

Trough levels 1 - 38 ng/mL
