clotted blood (gold cap, 5 mL tube) for AST and ALT

Test indications

Assessment of risk of advanced liver fibrosis in suspected non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).

Test information 

FIB-4 score can be calculated as:

FIB-4 = (Age years x AST U/L) / (platelet count 109/L x √ALT U/L)

Non-invasive markers of fibrosis have not been sufficiently validated in children to recommend routine use in clinical practice.
