Samples required

EDTA blood (purple cap/ yellow cap ring, 4 mL tube). Smaller tubes are available for paediatric samples.

Take sample pre-dose, or 12h post-dose for bd dosing.

For interpretation, form must include time post dose, last dose, preparation of  MPA and when dose last changed.

Suggested therapeutic range 1 - 3.5 mg/L (varies widely with indication and patient characteristics).

Turnaround time

Referral lab quotes turnaround time of 7 days, however additional time must be allowed for packing, dispatch and delivery of sample, and return and processing of results.
