Cryoglobulin, cryofibrinogen.

Samples required

 Clotted blood (gold cap, 5 mL tube), plus

EDTA blood (purple cap/ yellow cap ring, 4 mL tube).

Both samples must be brought to lab at 37°C (thermos flask can be borrowed from phlebotomists at RSCH), and reach laboratory by 4pm, Monday to Fridays only, to allow time for processing.

Note that sample cannot be shared with other tests due to special processing requirements.

Test indications

Suspected cryoproteinaemia (including cryoglobulins and cryofibrinogen) - treatable cause of poor peripheral vascular perfusion in the cold.

Test information

Cryoprotein screen includes screen for cryoglobulins (gold cap serum sample) and cryofibrinogen (purple cap EDTA plasma). If monitoring, only one may be required.
