● Clotted blood (gold cap, 5 mL tube) for simultaneous bone profile. Smaller tubes are available for paediatric samples.

Do not send samples on ice via pneumatic tube (pod) system.

Test indications

Very rarely indicated - do not request for routine suspected vitamin D deficiency or toxicity.

Monitoring of 1,25-D may occasionally be useful in patients treated with calcitriol (1,25D) or alfacalcidol (1α-hydroxycholecalciferol), and in cases where abnormal vitamin D metabolism is suspected, e.g. inherited rickets, hypercalcaemic sarcoidosis.
