Clotted blood (gold cap, 5 mL tube). Smaller tubes are available for paediatric samples.

Test indications

Test of limited value for routine use. Very low levels are against an atopic phenotype in the setting of rhinitis, eczema and small airway disease. Useful for dosing omalizumab in asthma and as part of the serological diagnosis of ABPA. Very raised levels are seen in Jobs syndrome (hyper-IgE syndrome).
