Samples required

Clotted blood (gold cap, 5 mL tube). Smaller tubes are available for paediatric samples.

Collect sample during follicular phase.

Test indications

Insensitive test of adrenal androgens - urinary steroid profile often more appropriate for initial diagnosis. Of little value in investigation of acne, idiopathic hirsutism or infertility.
