State anatomical site and suspected cause.

Samples required

Body fluid:

• from sterile sites e.g. ascitic fluid, bile, pleural or synovial fluid, semen,
• from other sites e.g. wound drainage, abscess fluid.

In sterile universal container. Do not add fixative or formalin.

Turnaround time*

9 working days (negative results typically available 2 days earlier).

60 working days for routine TB specimens.
