Samples required

Random urine sample, boric acid preserved.

Pass urine before the largest meal of the day - discard, than collect sample of urine 2 hours post meal.

Please take samples for this test towards the beginning of the week (Monday to Wednesday). To be suitable for analysis samples must reach the referral laboratory within 3 days; if received/forwarded towards the end of the week may be too old by the time they reach the referral laboratory.

To assess endogenous insulin secretion in patients on insulin treatment.

Referral lab quotes a target reporting time of 7 days, however additional time must be allowed for packing, dispatch and delivery of sample, and return and processing of results. Estimated total turnaround time 2 weeks.
