Test information |
Immunoassay for intrinsic factor. Positive results have high specificity for pernicious anaemia, but the sensitivity of the assay is fairly low at around 60%. Please note that gastric parietal cell antibodies have very poor diagnostic value due to low specificity and are no longer offered. Requests will be substituted for intrinsic factor antibody where appropriate. Method: Phadia 250 ELIA Please note this test is not currently listed as UKAS accredited. |
