Samples required

Clotted blood (gold cap, 5 mL tube). Smaller tubes are available for paediatric samples.

Test indications

Acute renal failure, acute pulmonary haemorrhage. Also used for monitoring disease activity in known patients.

Test information

Positive results have strong predictive value for rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis (anti GBM disease, Goodpasture’s) and alveolitis.  Some patients with ANCA-associated vasculitis also have positive GBM antibodies.
