Samples required

EDTA blood (purple cap/ yellow cap ring, 4 mL tube).

Bring to lab immediately, on ice. Samples must be separated within 15 minutes of venepuncture. Do not send via pneumatic tube (pod) system.

Fasting recommended but not essential.

Test indications

Investigation and monitoring of suspected neuroendocrine tumours.

Chromogranin A: < 60 pmol/L

Chromogranin B: < 150 pmol/L

Turnaround time

Referral lab quotes turnaround time of 15 days, however additional time must be allowed for packing, dispatch and delivery of sample, and return and processing of results.
